The Weekend Recap - 07.19.2011 - The Magical Finale and More Zombie Thumping... Soon!

It was a nostaglic and bittersweet ride this weekend, mainly because of the ending of the beloved Harry Potter franchise via the last film - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Nostalgic because as I was watching the film, I remember all those 10 years worth of movies and memories, seeing all these actors grow up (literally), and enjoying every bit of the magical ride. But then as I walked out of the darkened movie halls, I felt a bit sad because I won't be seeing Harry, Hermione, and Ron EVER again.

And that means we won't see them for good. Gone are the wands, the magical encantations (my favorite spell was "Expecto Patronum!"), and the Hogwarts Express... all of it.

It was the perfect ending to a once-in-a-lifetime movie franchise and one that will never be duplicated. And I am thankful to be one of those people who have witnessed - no, not just witnessed - but experienced a one-in-a-million journey... in a world where everything is possible with a flick of a wand. I'm gonna miss it.

But I'm gonna miss Emma more than anything else.

 --------

I was over with the Harry Potter fever after a day, and immediately got to my DVD store and bought the complete Season 1 of AMC's hit series "The Walking Dead" - based on the graphic novels by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard - which is one of my comic book series  of all time along with Bill Willingham's Fables.

12 chapters and an explosive season 1 finale, I want more of this series. Its such a shame that I would have to wait for October for Season 2.

Glad I found a way to quench that thirst, with an exclusive Walking Dead Comic-Con poster and a preview clip that shows a hardcore Rick Grimes laying the smackdown on two helpless roamers.

I like the fact that the next season could be going into a more dark corner in our character's minds, for it is the main element that made the comic books such a hit due to its many unforgettable scenes. I can't wait to see how would they translate the most bone-chilling moments in the comics into the TV screen. Darker, bloodier and better than ever.

Footage Of "Green Lantern: The Animated Series" In Full CGI [VIDEO]

The Green Lantern wagon continues to roll despite the negative reviews concerning Hal Jordan and the Corps first flight on the big screen, with the announcement of the first ever GL animated TV show.

I am pretty excited on watching this over Cartoon Network later this year because the project will involve the celebrated animator of the successful Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited shows - Bruce Timm. Not to mention that this will be created in full CGI ala- "The Incredibles". Nice!

Preview Photo For "The Walking Dead" Season 2 Surfaces

... its still about  zombies. More of 'em.

Click the photo so you could see the zombies more clearly.

Robert Kirkman has said that season 2 will see Rick and company fighting for their lives in Herschel's Farm, with a couple of new characters to be introduced in the process.

As far as I remember from the original comic book series, this is where a lot of the most memorable moments - including the shocking deaths - happened.

I wonder if "The Governor" will show up this season?

The Walking Dead Season 2 is slated to be aired in October. No final dates yet.

Adrianne Palicki Wearing The Classic 'Wonder Woman' Shorts

And it looks.... nicer? compared to the pantsy costume she had before. Yeah, I got to admit, showing more skin is better than wearing the tight pants. Gorgeous, Adrianne.

Too bad, the show was already axed and no other network wants to take a shot at it so this is all we're gonna get folks. At least we saw her nice legs. That's never too bad.

NBC's New Fairy Tale-Horror-Drama Series 'The Grimm' A 'Fables' Rip-Off!?? WTF?

Fuck, I've seen (and read) this somewhere before. Zenescope's Grimm Fairy Tales? Fables? Damn.

Here's the official series description according to NBC:

Grimm is a new drama series inspired by the classic Grimm's Fairy Tales. Remember the fairy tales your parents used to tell you before bedtime? Those weren't stories -- they were warnings.

Nick Burkhardt (David Guintoli Turn The Beat Around) thought he prepared himself for the realities of working as a homicide detective until he started seeing things he couldn't quite explain. When his ailing Aunt Marie (guest star Kate Burton, Grey's Anatomy) arrives, Nick's life turns upside down when she reveals they are descendants of an elite group of hunters, also known as "Grimms," who fight to keep the balance of humanity safe from the supernatural creatures of the world.

What is this? Fables with some added supernatural 'Twilight' crap? Fuck this. I'm disgusted by how they to rip one of the most beloved comic book series of this era and then make a lame TV series out of it. The trailer above sucks and I'm pretty sure that the whole series will blow.

How can they make something like this and then not make an authentic, high-quality Fables series that we can all enjoy? Fuck damn.

Finally... 'Smallville' is over.

And it was awesome. To me, no matter what the critics say, the last minutes of the series was emotional (yes, only the last minutes because the first 45+ was nothing but nonsense crap) and was a nice fit. Though, Clark doesn't get a full shot with the suit, unless its with some bad CGI effects.

But despite the long wait and watching all the crap take place before the best moments kicked in, time turned back for and I was a kid again, getting all giddy and excited waiting for Clark Kent (Tom Welling) to become the greatest hero God's green earth will ever know: the one every hero aspires to be - Superman. I can't explain with words how much the final minutes of 'Smallville' was like, but I could definitely say that it was an EPIC and even better in a some ways than the final scenes of Brian Singer's Superman Returns (again except for the bad special effects and corny cliches).

There's Jonathan Kent giving Clark his suit, Clark flying in the air for the first time and becoming Supes, and finally the iconic shirt rip that I've been wanting so see. Plus the greatest Lex Luthor of all time,  Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) was back for this finale.

To top it all off,  the ending send chills down my spine that I have never felt since Richard Donner's first Superman film starring the late Christopher Reeve - thanks to that familiar 'Superman theme' as all these moments unveiled before my eyes. That tune never fails to capture the very essence of the whole franchise and the character itself.  It was magical.

Thank you for the wonderful 10 years 'Smallville'. To all its creators, producers, directors, and cast... thank you for giving us a great show and and ending -  that despite all the bad moments, the nonsense and the ridiculous Supes CGI that ranks as one of the worst in TV history - couldn't have been any better for me. Thank you.

NBC Snubs "Wonder Woman" TV Series

After all the shooting, the on-set pictures of Adrianne Palicki, and multiple costume changes, NBC has decided not to give "Wonder Woman" a slot in their network because of the "mixed response" they got from a test audience.

So for now, no fake WW boobies will show up on TV. Lynda Carter die-hards are jumping up and down right now for sure.

Its a shame that I wouldn't see even just the pilot episode, because pilots are usually awesome, as proven by "Smallville" nine years ago.

Smallville Finale Teaser - Will Clark Wear The Suit?

Just found this video off of Youtube and it looks like a teaser for the Smallville finale. Only 17 seconds, but it got me pretty excited about the ending of the 10-year superhero TV series. Why? Click on the play button and listen closely.

Familiar tune isn't it?

With that said, I think that Tom Welling will wear the suit in the closing moments of the finale. While that might be a sucker because fans will only get to see the iconic red and blue tights in action for a couple of minutes (or seconds maybe), that's still a nice reward to all the loyal fans (including yours truly) of the show who stuck through its 10 season span.

How about you guys? Yay or Nay? Post your comments below or join the poll (top right hand corner of the site).

New Wonder Woman Set Pics Reveal A Slightly Revamped Costume!

A couple of weeks ago everybody saw the first ever look at Wonder Woman star Adrianne Palicki with the iconic costume. And while that didn't look that bad in my opinion, I think that it could be improved with a few changes. Well, it seems that the show's producer's heard us and they did some minor tweaks to the wardrobe - and now, it looks absolutely better than the first one.

So we got the following changes on the costume:
  1. The freaking red boots - they are AWESOME.  One color change on that part changed everything.
  2. Slightly dark blue color on the pants - I like it better than the bright blue before.
  3. Non-latex/plastic pants - Woohoo! That's more like it.
  4. Gold stars on the sides of the thighs - nice addition that gives a more "Wonder" vibe to it.

Now, check out some of the snapshots and a video from the Hollywood set showing Adrianne Palicki and her stunt-double jumping off cars after the cut.

And I have to admit - after I saw all the pictures and videos, the new costume and the cuteness of Palicki, I got more excited on seeing this show next year. I've got a pretty good vibe on this one now based on what I have seen.

Adrianne Palicki In Her 'Wonder Woman' Costume... Boobies + Latex

Yes guys. All in her tight-hugging latex glory, here is Wonder Woman star Adrianne Palicki in her first full costumed photo:

I like the pants thing going on, and Palicki definitely looks fantastic here - but I have a little bit of a problem with the face in this picture. I don't know, it looks like a bad photoshop job. Anyway, let's see how this would look like in the show's fight scenes.

Wonder Woman is a reboot of the 1970's TV series based on the DC comic book heroine and is currently handled by NBC.

And Our TV Wonder Woman Is...

... the 5'11 blonde bombshell, Adrianne Palicki.

I honestly don't know this girl, but from the picture it seems like she's got the looks and the height needed for the role, but they could've gotten a better looking actress, no? Like someone who looks MORE like an amazon warrior with that cool glamour - and not to mention - natural titties. (those transplants are kind of annoying). But I gotta admit: this girl is not afraid to show A LOT OF SKIN. (try Googling her)

Acting wise, I haven't watched her any of her shows personally, but looking at her IMDB section, it seems to me that she hasn't got any big time roles that showcases her abilities so I'm a little bit worried about how would she act this one out.

Anyway, she will be playing the titular role of Wonder Woman - who in this series is going to be reinvented as a "cimefighting-vigilante" based in LA. Not only that, she would be playing 2 alter-egos as well: one as  multi-billionaire CEO Diana Themyscira, and then second, as Diana's assistant - Diana Prince.

Wow, that assistant thingy is also getting me scared right now. Why make things so complicated? What do you think guys?

Smallville's "Superboy" ... [Spoiler]

Is...

**drum roll please**

Ok. Just click after the jump.

"Hey guys! Wanna sing?"

...freaking Lucas Gabreel. Holy mackerel.

Don't remember him? Try watching High School Musical

He will be appearing on the show's 10th and final season (which newest episodes I have catch up on) as mentioned by executive producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson.

Thanks to ComicBookResources for the news.

Wonder Woman Update: How About Beyonce?

Beyonce as Wonder Woman - 'Yay' or 'Nay'?

I just read something on Hero Complex about Beyonce eyeing the role of Wonder Woman for the planned TV series by NBC. She says that "a black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing" and that it is time for something like that.

Oh noes. I don't want her shaking her booty in that suit and singing and dancing to  "Single Ladies" like she's wearing leotards. It would be a disaster. I just hope the producers won't pull the trigger on her. I would go with any other actress  like Megan Fox, Kaley Cuoco, or even Elisha Cuthbert. Hell, I would go with anybody but Beyonce. Cmon. And oh, forget Halle Berry. She's definitely out of the picture.

Let's do a photoshop preview. One friend of mine thinks that Megan Fox might be a good choice for the role. Hmmm.. let us see...

Credit goes to the creator of this pic

Damn! That looks more like it! I don't know about her acting, but I would go with her any day of the week instead of the former Destiny's Child lead.

What do you think guys? Who's your bet to play our feisty Amazon sweetheart?

Wonder Woman TV Show In The Works

So after years of speculation, Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman will hit our TV screens after all. NBC has just confirmed that they will produce the show starring our beloved Amazon superheroine. That's good news for all those who have been waiting to see her in live-action TV ala-Smallville.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the show would be come Smallville-ish, but there is a possibility. After all, its a superhero themed show. But what if I tell you that NBC is planning on a different and "modern" take on this classic DC heroine? According to Deadline Hollywood, they are going to do a "reinvention" of the character and that means making her a vigilante crime fighter in LA all while being a successful corporate executive who's trying to balance her crazy dual-identity life.

Hmmm... So Diana is no longer an Amazon, but a Punisher-like character who kicks punk-asses in Los Angeles? Kind of skeptical about that, but I like the planned twist on the story.  Let us see how that fares. What do you think folks? Does that sound a 'yay' to you?

There's A New Superhero In Town: Get Ready For "The Cape"

Superhero fans, there is a new guy that looks like to kick some ass on your TV screens every week.  "The Cape" is airing its 2-hour premiere this January 9th on NBC that will star David Lyons as the new hero in black.

From Wikipedia:

"The series, set in the fictional metropolis of Palm City, follows an innocent cop who has been framed for a crime he did not commit and then left for dead after he is caught. He is eventually saved by a circus ringleader who prepares him with special abilities to defend himself against his foes. Separated from his wife and son, he tries to clear his name while protecting them from being killed in the event that he should be reported alive. He takes the law into his own hands by taking the guise of his son's favorite comic book hero, The Cape, after he is given a special suit that has unique capabilities. Vowing to get rid of the corruption that has taken over both the city and the police force, he goes after the person responsible for setting him up and causing his "demise".

Ordinary guy gets mystical powers and becomes the man who saves the day? Sounds good to me. That formula worked 70 years ago and for sure will work again in this new generation. I'm excited to see how this would fare. And because I only watch Smallville during weekends, adding this to my weekly TV schedule is a plus.

Don't forget to visit the official site and as usual you gotta watch the spectacular (yeah, I mean it) trailer after the jump:

New Smallville Season 10 Poster Shows The Red and Blue

Smallville has been airing for almost 10 years now chronicling the life of a young Clark Kent before he became Superman. Love it or hate it, this show has contributed much to the Superman legacy and has withstood the test of time - budget cuts, changing networks, cast members leaving, and other things that we don't see on camera.

The show entered its 10th and final season and as much as they want to adhere with their famous "no-tights-no-flights" rule right from the beginning, it seems to me that it won't hold up for too long. Season 10 offered us glimpses of The Man of Tomorrow catching bullets and saving the day and even showed the costume at the end of this season's episode one.

Now the show just got more exciting as a new teaser poster showed up courtesy of our friends from the Source:

Noticed anything? Oh hell yeah.

Smallville returns on CW on January 29th.

P.S - Does anybody think that Brandon Routh is in the poster somewhere because of crappy photoshopping?

Opening up 2011 with The Walking Dead

After a couple of days of celebrating the new year and eating non-stop, its finally time to get back to business.

First thing I did was to watch AMC's The Walking Dead tv series and was able to get a dvd for the first season (or so I thought).

Well, it was good as it was advertised, they stuck with the comic book storyline mostly but the thing that really made it better was the addition of some scenes and plot lines that we're never in the graphic novel. I think it was good move by the producers because you don't want to just religiously stick the source material all the time and just copy it (Watchmen, anyone?).  I felt like I was into a different story even though I had finished reading the book and to me that's a good thing. Gives off a feel of surprise and unpredictability even for the hardcore fans of the comic.

The zombies are just plain great. I mean, I said "eewww" and "yuck!" a couple of times seeing all those grotesque and gruesome images - zombie eating rats, a zombie being butchered, and one that is scavenging a body of a big deer with all  the blood, spleens, kidneys and stuff that you would only see in a slaughter house. Wow. Its cinematic genius.

And who would have thought that we would never see such an A-grade, over-the-top drama series with zombies? But here we are finsihed with the first season and are already waiting for the 2nd with 13 freaking episodes. It doesn't get any better than that.

Now if I can only be one of those zombie extras.
