After Schism: Uncanny X-Men and Wolverine & The X-Men #1 and #2 Covers

X-Men: Schism is drawing to a close and we already know what is going to happen after all is said and done. So here we go with the two covers for the first and second issues of what will be two separate X-Men teams: one led by Cyclops, and the other led by fan-favorite Wolverine.

First off, we have Uncanny X-Men #1 and 2. Looks like we got Mr. Sinister back in the rumble!

The Best "Uncanny X-Men" Covers Part 1

We all know that the longest running comic book series the Uncanny X-Men is going to end with its #544 issue in February 2012 after Jason Aaron's "Schism" event, so lets take the time to reminsce the good 'ol days of the flasgship X-Men series by turning back the clock and having a peek once more at its greatest covers.

There are so many good covers over the years, but only few are memorable and I have handpicked 20 of them based on the art, its influence, badassery, and overall (story & emotional) impact.

But before we get to the list, let's start off with the...

Honorable mention: Uncanny X-Men #1

Art by Jack Kirby

Of course, you know this will be included. This is the one that started it all.

Only flaw with this is Marvel Girl (Jean Grey) looking like a retard, standing in the background doing nothing (maybe she's dancing, no?). Maybe her psychic powers are very hard to draw.

Now that we got that out the way, the first ten after the cut.

 Issue #135 - "Dark Phoenix" - July 1980
Art by John Byrne & Terry Austin

Issue #136 - "Child of Light and Darkness" - August 1980
Art by John Byrne & Terry Austin

Issue #142 - "Mind Out of Time" - February 1981
Art by Terry Austin

 Issue #168 - "Professor Xavier Is A Jerk!" - April 1983
Art by Paul Smith

 Issue #210 - "The Morning After - October 1986
Art by John Romita & Bob Wiacek

 Issue #211 - "Massacre" - November 1986
Art by John Romita & Bob Wiacek

 Issue #234 - "Glory Day" - September 1988
Art by Marc Silvestri

Issue #251 - "Fever Dream" - November 1989
 Art by Marc Silvestri

 Issue #268 - "Madripoor Knights" - September 1990
Art by Jim Lee

Hope you liked my first wave. Any comments, other cover suggestions or if there is anything I missed that deserves to be on this list, let me know. It will be greatly appreciated.

Part 2 will continue tomorrow (or whenever I have the time to do this again).
